Super Parenting?!

SUPER PARENTING by the BBC

I’m not going to go into huge detail but I saw this today and it immediately made me roll my eyes. The points in this article are great in theory but perhaps will be seen as just another way of making already exhausted, stressed out and daunted parents feel worse about themselves.

Dont get me wrong, I think what this is saying is fantastic and to get a non-verbal child speaking is nothing more than miraculous but by using words such as “Super” they are indirectly suggesting that all usĀ others that physically and emotionally cannot cope with any more are barely mediocre.

My favourite section is this…”The researchers’ idea was simple: improve mum’s and dad’s parenting to improve the social skills of the child.”

Easy peasy!!

I know personally I could not fit any more into my life and as such I feel I’m possibly not helping Jude as much as I could. Super parenting?! Just insulting to all parents of disabled children who struggle to survive each day let alone then having someone come and analyse your parenting skills! How many parents of non-disabled children would like an analysis?! For me it’s a no thanks.
